Is there a better way to spend a sunny Wednesday evening than to play cricket at Langley’s picturesque ground? Nestled up in the hills, with the backdrop of Teggs Nose and Macc Forest, the Jets women took to the pitch once again for a Cheshire Women's Cricket League soft ball fixture, handing debuts to Sarah Penny, Louise Coleman and Jo Baty.
The reverse fixture at Jacksons Edge earlier in the season had been a close affair with Langley edging the victory. This time the result was reversed as the Jets women showcased excellent form with the bat. They found the boundary on no less 21 occasions in the 16 overs as Emma Dawson, in only her second league game, crashed three 4s, one 6 and a single in an over.
It handed Langley their first defeat of the season, celebrated with post-match drinks to round the evening off perfectly as the sun descended.
