The U13 Jets Girls had a full weekend of pairs hardball cricket over the weekend, building up lots more crucial in-game experience.
Saturday morning saw a close match against Lindow, where the girls got the necessary runs off the bat but deductions due to wickets lost resulted in a close loss.
On Sunday afternoon Macclesfield were the opposition, excelling in backing up and running between the wickets. Despite only scoring around 50 with the bat, great running of byes pushed their score up to 90. The total forced the Jet's to take risks in search of the runs and as a consequence wickets fell regularly. Even though well matched in terms of boundaries hit, the Jets couldn't match the Macclesfield running between the wickets, resulting in defeat to the local rivals.
As usual the girls were super committed in the field and impressed both teams with their fielding bravery, keeping both teams' boundary count in check. The team are learning more about how to set fields and how to adapt to changing scenarios in the match, and will look to learn from the areas in which the opposition excelled.
