The last week in February saw preseason ground preparations get underway on the outfield at Poynton Sports Club, and on the square at Disley Amalgamated Sports Club.
At Poynton Fine Turf Services (http://www.fineturfservices.co.uk/) were on hand to verti-drain and re-seed the outfield, as well as applying 2 tonnes of sport sand to ready the ground for cricket. The mild winter has meant that the Poynton Lacrosse section have managed to make it to March without a game being abandoned, allowing work to begin earlier than usual in preparation for the Easter weekend start for the UKFAST Cheshire Cricket League.
In Disley attention was focused on the square as a second round of cutting and rolling was followed by further seeding and an application of fertiliser. The Club will be running a two-site NatWest Cricket Force event across both facilities in the next few weeks to further ready the club for its inaugural season.
