This season the club has seen a record number of juniors at our training sessions. In addition to coming under the same brand as the senior section, the juniors have also seen some changes as we transitioned away from our traditional Friday nights where everyone trained at the same time at our Poynton ground. With increasing numbers of children, changes were necessary to ensure the safety of all those involved.
The Mini Jets, now expanded to include the reception year group, have been enjoying their early Friday evening sessions at our Poynton ground. Around 100 children are learning the basic skills of cricket and having lots of fun at the same time. The U9s are also based at Poynton each Friday in the later session, developing their cricketing skills as they prepare for their first competitive season.
The U10/11s and the U12/13s are split across both our sites for the first time, each group alternating weekly between focussed net sessions at Poynton and the space for fielding drills and match practice at Disley. Our U14/15s may train at Poynton on a Monday (boys) or Wednesday (girls) but they are valued helpers at Poynton on a Friday evening for the Mini Jets and U9 sessions.
